Sure you can pretend you're interested in the hours of processing professors, wearing silly hats and gowns. Or that waking up at 6 to sit on a folding chair 2 hours before you plan on seeing anything is worth it. Or that you can hear a thing they're saying on stage from your specific folding chair's location.
But if you're being honest with yourself, you know that commencement ceremonies are worse than any cruel joke nature plays on the young - and so much more boring.
At least when they're your exercises, you have the possibility of getting presents.
Today, I have the distinct possibility of not being able to pay my credit card bill thanks to the purchase of a gift I can't afford, hemorrhoids from the extended, painful seating, and an unexplained coma...from the yawning, gaping, all-engulfing boredom.
Though I must admit, that is a pretty great preparation for the real world...

According to what we remember from pamphlets geared towards 6th-grade girls, puberty is regarded as one of the most awkward and scary stages in a person’s life. It’s a time of horrifying physical transformations, scary new feelings, and growing interest in activities that you are still not old enough to engage in legally. Common symptoms of puberty include: braces, frizzy hair, baby fat, having a crush on 8th grader Steve Julius, blinding body odor and lame extracurricular interests like the violin or Bedazzling.
