Today at the gym, for the third day in a row, I was informed of the ins and outs of the Henry Louis Gates beer, the HLG case, the officer's story, and Obama's various responses.
I know no more than I knew the day after this event.
And yet, I count myself lucky, because I'm fairly certain that it was only this incident that finally forced CNN to stop covering the Michael Jackson death, funeral, coverage, over-coverage of coverage, and possibly missing false nose.
I know that a 24-news cycle is hard to fill, but seriously, there are still squirrels out there riding horseback on puppies, both wearing little costumes, aren't there? There's still hilarious mix-ups at the DMV, and folks trying to change their names to things like "Bilbo Baggins" and "King Arthur," right? There's still some crevice of Jennifer Aniston as yet unexplored, no? (And before you say "no," or "CNN wouldn't cover that," I'll have you know that yes, they very much would. Standards of excellence go out the window around hour 10).
So why, oh why, must you cover two stories incessantly?
I knew there was a reason that I didn't pursue the media internships I started out on, and that Karla gave up her news-based job...

However, if personal experience has taught us anything, it's that there are experiences in life far more awkward, scary and pathetic than puberty. Here is a list of things that are:
WORSE THAN PUBERTY
